is the fourth largest city of Hungary. It lies on Hungary's south-eastern border, just south of the mouth of the Maros River, on both banks of the river Tisza. It is the capital of the county of Csongrád. It is commercial and cultural city of the region. Szeged is one of the centres of the food industry in Hungary, especially known for its paprika, Szekelygulyas and Pick salami.
If a visitor is not coming to visit the city by car, the best way to reach Szeged is probably by train through Budapest. If you arrived to the capital by airplane, bus or train you simply have to get on the blue metro line and get off at the Nyugati train station. Fast trains leave almost every two hours (travel time is about 3 hours) and Inter City trains leave 4 times a day. A tram towards right in front of the train station in Szeged and will take you to the town center. If your destination is in the city center, then you should take the tram till the Széchényi square so you really can't miss the downtown area.
It is the fourth largest church in Hungary. The dome is 54 m outside (33m above the inside floor) and the towers are both 91m high. The "Heroes' bell" in the tower on the Tisza side weighs 8600 kg.
